From the New York Times Best-Selling book, "WE ARE THE SHIP: The Story of Negro League Baseball," by Kadir Nelson, John "Buck" O'Neil, (standing, third from right) player and manager for the Kansas City Monarchs, surveys the field during a home game in 1949. Seated next to him is outfielder, Frank Duncan, Jr.. Standing (from left to right) is the bat boy, and the second baseman, Curtis Roberts. Seated in the dugout are (from left to right) catcher, Elston Howard, pitcher George Walker, old-timer Percy Staples of the Tennessee Rats and team trainer James 'Jew Baby' Floyd.

This image will be released in two separate limited editions: A Limited Paper Edition (30" x 15") of 300 giclees on archival watercolor paper, with 30 Artist's Proofs and 25 Remarques; and an Oversize Limited Canvas Edition (48" x 24") of 100 canvas giclees, with 20 Hand-Embellished Proofs. Each print is signed and numbered by the artist and presented with a Certificate of Authenticity.
