KADIR NELSON (b. 1974) is an American artist of national and international acclaim based in Southern California. His paintings are often featured on the cover of The New Yorker magazine and New York Times bestselling® picture books.
Nelson's original paintings reside in the permanent collections of notable institutions including the United States House of Representatives, the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery and National Museum of African American History and Culture, the Muskegon Museum of Art, the National Baseball Hall of Fame, the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne, Switzerland, and the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, the World Trade Center, among others.
